Sino-Tibetan jian, in scabbard. According to the photographer: A straight iron sword, with silver hilt and scabbard, probably of recent manufacture; decorated with t’ao-t’ieh masks. Inlaid with cabochons of turquoise, coral and with archaic jades (probably Han-Song Dynasty) depicting Taoist mythical monsters that date from much earlier dynasties.
